Our History
In1988, Mark and Susan Braverman founded Crisis Management Group (CMG Associates). CMG’s groundbreaking mission was to respond to the needs of companies, communities and public entities that had experienced a traumatic event. Together, Mark and Susan developed the industry’s first Workplace Psychological Trauma Intervention Program for Digital Equipment Corporation a program that has served as a model for the subsequent development of employee-focused critical incident intervention in the workplace.
CMG broadened its services to offer a range of innovative Employee Assistance Programs, providing plans to meet the needs of each client organization. The core of CMG’s approach was to forge an alliance with management, particularly Human Resources, and to find solutions for client’s need for an affordable EAP that did not compromise quality and the all-important relationship with management. CMG continues to provide highly customized EAP and crisis management solutions for a wide range of public entities and private companies.
As part of their partnership with corporate and public-sector clients, Mark and Susan developed protocols for managing organizational change, responding to threats of violence, and providing needed training and support for managers dealing with the most challenging organizational issues. Throughout, they continued to respond to the daily situations and crises confronting their clients, as well as some of the major disasters and emergencies that shook our society, including Hurricane Andrew; the Loma Prieta Earthquake; the rash of post office shootings, including Royal Oak, Michigan; Hurricane Hugo; and the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, DC.
The Bravermans’ 15 years of experience helping organizations manage such a broad range of challenges taught them about the importance of organizational culture, leadership, and resilience. They know how much these qualities determine the success of the corporate mission.
